The Suzhou Dushu Lake Sci-Edu Innovation District Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience Series themed “Infinite Wisdom” was launched on Mar 30. The first event offered 30 Chinese and foreign students from schools in the district an opportunity to savor the essence and charm of traditional Chinese culture.
The event began with the students donning elegant traditional Chinese attire, which instantly transported them into a classical cultural context.

After that, the students gained a knowledge of the Song brocade which, named after the Song Dynasty (960-1279), is hailed as China’s most luxurious and complicated form of brocade silk. Then, following an expert’s instruction and demonstration, they cut and pieced together colorful fabrics to create patterns of horses as a token of good wishes for the Year of the Horse which is marked this year according to the Chinese Zodiac.

The students also tried to dye a scarf with traditional water marbling techniques. By dripping paint onto water and gently dipping a silk scarf, each student created a unique, flowing artwork.
